As the next City Councilwoman of Locust Grove, my mission is clear and resolute. I am committed to leveraging my educational background and extensive experience in local government to steer our city toward a future that is not only prosperous but also inclusive for all residents. My primary focus will be on enhancing our city's resilience to withstand challenges, fostering cultural vibrancy that celebrates our diverse community, driving economic growth that benefits local businesses, and ensuring effective governance that reflects the values and needs of our citizens.

Policy Development & Governance
Effective governance is crucial for any city's success, and I am eager to bring my expertise in policy development to Locust Grove. I am dedicated to updating our city ordinances to ensure they comply with federal and state laws and regulations. Ordinances are vital as they define the city's duties, responsibilities, and guidelines for operation, serving as the framework within which local governance functions. They establish the rules that ensure safety, promote community welfare, and protect the rights of residents.

By diligently working to align our ordinances with applicable laws, I will help create a governance structure that is not only effective but also responsive to the needs of our community. Promoting transparency, accountability, and community involvement in the decision-making process will further strengthen our local government and ensure it serves the interests of all citizens.

Crisis Response and Recovery Planning
The natural disaster in 2023 underscored the urgent need for a robust crisis response and recovery plan in our community. As a victim of the storm's damage, I understand firsthand the devastating impact that inadequate preparation can have on families and neighborhoods. This experience revealed not only the physical destruction caused by such events but also the emotional and psychological toll they take on our residents. In response to these challenges, I am committed to ensuring that Locust Grove is equipped to handle future emergencies effectively. This includes implementing storm shelters that provide safe havens during severe weather, establishing clear emergency communication channels, and providing disaster preparedness education to empower our community.
Education will play a crucial role in this initiative, as I plan to organize workshops and informational sessions that teach residents how to prepare for emergencies, develop emergency plans, and create supply kits. Additionally, I will advocate for partnerships with local organizations and agencies to enhance our preparedness efforts and ensure that resources are readily available when crises occur. My goal is to build a prepared, resilient community that can swiftly respond to and recover from any crisis.
Economic & Small Business Development
Economic Development refers to the process of improving the economic well-being and quality of life for a community by creating and retaining jobs, enhancing income levels, and fostering a stable and sustainable economy. This involves various strategies, such as supporting local businesses, attracting new investments, and improving infrastructure.
I plan to get involved by implementing small business workshops to empower local entrepreneurs and by hosting community focus groups to understand the needs of our citizens and businesses better. Through these initiatives, I aim to support existing enterprises, attract new businesses that our infrastructure can accommodate, and ultimately create a vibrant economy that benefits all residents.
Cultural & Recreational Development
Recognizing that Locust Grove currently has limited entertainment options beyond shopping and dining, I am committed to attracting businesses that provide diverse recreational experiences, such as Urban Air, an indoor trampoline park, and Axe Country, which offers unique activities for thrill-seekers (examples). By bringing in businesses such as these or similar, we can enrich our community’s offerings and provide residents with enjoyable activities that encourage social interaction and physical well-being. I am also passionate about transforming Locust Grove into a vibrant hub of cultural diversity and creativity, which is why I joined Locust Grove Main Street, Inc. By celebrating our city's rich heritage, we can cultivate an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued. I envision organizing festivals, art exhibitions, and cultural programs that highlight our community's diversity.
In addition to these cultural initiatives, I am dedicated to enhancing recreational activities for all age groups, including teens and seniors. I plan to collaborate with the Henry County Water Authority to introduce exciting water-based activities and advocate for improvements to our community parks, ensuring they feature upgraded playgrounds, fitness stations, and areas for organized sports. These efforts will ensure everyone has access to healthy recreational opportunities while fostering a sense of belonging and community pride.
